Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account info: phone number, or the name, email, and profile photo shared when you sign in that way. App activity: your category preferences, bookmarks, articles you have read (used for your daily reading streak), and emoji reactions. Device info: a push-notification token so we can send you breaking news and streak reminders, and your device time zone.

2. How we use your information

To operate your account and keep you signed in; to personalize your For You tab based on your chosen topics; to calculate and remind you about your reading streak; to send breaking-news and category push notifications you have opted into; and to process Premium subscription status.

3. Service providers

We work with a small number of trusted service providers to operate core functionality: signing you in, delivering one-time codes, sending push notifications, and showing ads. Each provider processes only what is necessary to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy terms.

4. Offline downloads (Premium)

If you are a Premium subscriber, the App may download your top articles to your device while you are on WiFi so you can read them without a connection. This cache is stored locally on your device and is cleared when a newer download replaces it.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your choices

You can update your name, email, phone, and topic preferences at any time from your Profile. You can turn push notifications off from Profile > Push notifications. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.

7. Children's privacy

Bite News is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, hashed and short-lived credentials) to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the Last updated date above.
